minimize brain activity, no caffine, no light, no noise or soothing noise, deep breathing to relax, focus on a simple or mundane task. look at something visual, like pictures ( not emotional ones!) to get out of your head.
Call you're doc...The meds you're on might be keeping you up.
I'm really sorry that you're having such a tough time. And the fact that you're not sleeping won't be helping at all. Sleep deprivation is a form of torture and I can certainly identify with you in that respect - my son when he was a baby didn't often visit the Land Of Nod and looking back I don't know how I survived those YEARS - cos it wasn't until he was 4 ish that things improved.
Anyway, you certainly need some rest and soon. The things that have helped me have been taking some physical exercise - perhaps aerobic, warm baths as opposed to hot ones, using lavender oil on my pillow, or a few drops in the bath.
What about trying to get some of those thoughts out of your mind and on to some paper? That way there may be less stuff going round and round. Something to break the cycle.
some suggestions anyway.
Take good care and I hope your next posting will be to tell us that you feel a little more rested.
Hi Tracey I hope you are fast asleep by now! If not, this is something I regularly do when desperate for sleep. Could you make a little bed in front of your TV set? Watch the pictures and half follow what is going on and breathe as if you were asleep, the images and ideas ought to replace the ones in your head and if you are half watching half-listening they should mimick dreams and your body should do the rest. If that doesnt work some people get sleep using melatonin. Maybe your doctor would know more. Good luck Lark
got 1 hour last night!!! first in nearly a week!! woke up crying!!!
really bad memory!!!
really struggling!!
tried alsort!! even sleeping tablets aren't helping!!!
tried to get an emergency appointment with dr!! but aparently not sleeping fo nearly a week isn't urgent and soonest they can get me in is a week Monday!!
can u call Your doctor? if he has an emergency # I'd use it! Don't give up on one call. Can you call someone to keep you company or drive you to the hosp? Don't stay solo.
tracey, you really need to get some sleep, is there someone that can call the emergency doctor and be a bit firmer about your need to see them.
ive been where you are, no sleep at all and it is so hard. meds from the doc helped slightly and it just gives you that bit of sleep to keep you going.
dont sit there keeping quiet. get in to see your dr. and keep talking here we will always listen.
Sorry you are not sleeping but insomnia might not be the emergency but the way you are feeling is the lack of sleep will have a knock on effect on the whole of your well being Please ring the dr again no luck then either ask for a home visit or to speak with the dr failing that go and see the nurse scream and shout and they soon get the dr you cannot wait that long dont listen to the receptionist you shouldn't have to give her why you need to see your gp.
but it helped me sleep!!! can't get to see dr till friday!!! so i hope i can continue sleeping till then!!!! ran out of sleeprs last night!!! that's probably why i only took the six!!!!
But feeling alot better today!!! kicking myself for the od!! but it worked!!!(I mean i got sleep!!!)
