Hi Fee

Its a long way for you to travel but we are not too bad down on the southcoast Brighton can be expensive so its cheaper to stay somewhere just outside maybe Worthing or Hastings.

The New Forest is very splendid in the autumn.

Just a suggestion as I don't know anywhere up your way.

Let us know on your decision and enjoy your birthday and the weekend

Lake District is truly beautiful and cheap this time of year.

What interest do you have? Outward boundy sort of stuff?  Shopping?  Garden Centres?  Eating out?  Cinema?

Might help me come up with a few more ideas for you.

Warm regards

Jamie

Thanks amanda, we like going for long drives so thats not out of the question! id love to hear more about new forest!

Someone else mentioned the Lake District aswell Jamie and it does sound lovely!  You are right I shouldve included what sorta thing we like, to be honest I felt a little silly!!  We like a bit of everything really, nice romantic walks or shopping in the day and a spot of lunch or even a trip to the fair or something similar, then either a nice meal or a few drinks and a dance in the night! The last time we went away was edinburgh and we loved it there but it might be nice to go somewhere a bit more countryside-y this time.  any ideas are great tho cos im rubbish at deciding things so the more choice i have the better!!!

thanks again,

I think the Lakes or the New Forest would both be ideal.

If the weather turns nasty the New Forest is a bit closer to civilisation than the Lakes (depending on exactly where you stay), but both are lovely.

North Wales is also an option - not too deep in Welsh territory (beware the dragons) but somewhere near Chester - which is a lovely city.

All the best

I agree Stourhead is lovely - http://www.wiltshire-web.co.uk/history/stour.htm

That whole area is nice and not too far away from the New Forest (2hr drive)
